Great color and composition Mary… where in NJ is Basto State Park? (I’ve lived here all my life and have never heard of it…)
Mary Campbell replied
It’s actually called Basto Village it in Wharton State Forest. It’s free on weekdays and a small fee on weekends.
Directions below.
Historic Batsto Village is located on Route 542 in the Wharton State Forest, Washington Township, Burlington County, New Jersey. It is about 45 miles Southeast of Philadelphia and approximately 25 miles in a Westerly direction from Atlantic City. The nearest significant town is Hammonton, NJ 08037 which is about 8 miles to the West.
Susan Bergstrom
YIKES>>>I’m falling! Such awesome movement in this Mary!!!
Mary Campbell replied
Thanks Susan, does make you feel the impending decent…
Jim Nooney
Ahhh…the OTHER Washington Township. I’m in the other one way up North in Bergen County.
Mary Campbell replied
I was just wandering around up by you, you have some really nice parks up there too especially in the west of 80 and Patterson surprised me with it’s history and falls. I’m actually in the middle of both but I have a niece who lives in the south so I get to overnite there before I explore.

Mary I like surprising people by letting them know that New Jersey has lots of beautiful parks AND great beaches too… they just need to get off the Turnpike!!
Mary Campbell replied
Yes, NJ does have beautiful beaches and some natural areas left. The Turnpike are basically for going to NYC or Philly.. and does have that bad reputation due to the industry that developed along it. But it was our 1st highway and as that, I think many business saw it as a way to get around.
