Skaters on the Ottawa Canal by

A view of skaters on the Ottawa Canal during the annual Winterlude Festival in February. One can see the famous historical Chateau Laurier Hotel in the background with the old Railway Station in front of it (now a convention centre). Parliament would be off to the upper left.

Great shot, Max. I have an identical one taken in Feb. 92 that I’ve been scouring my archives for. I was using my old Canon AV1 and it was so cold out one of my rolls of film snapped when I was rewinding it!

  • Yep – that sounds like an Ottawa winter. Spent some time in Winnipeg too ( and there’s lots of yarns about their winters ;-)

Btw, this shot was taken from a new pedestrian footbridge over the canal joing Ottawa University to Somerset St. West.

    Stay warm,
    Max

Congratulations on winning the challange…A wonderful capture indeed, I recall skating on the canal, with my youngest daughter back in the early 80’s when we lived in Ottawa, which I am proud to call my countries Capitol.
