Mike Rudd (lead singer/guitarist) with Bill Putt (bass guitar) of the band Ariel are shown here performing at a free concert held by then-new Australian Broadcasting Commission youth radio station 2JJ in Sydney (then on the AM band (1540) – it has since morphed into 2JJJ, now on the FM band (105.7 in Sydney – other frequencies on various other station around Australia as well as internet presence).

The concert was held at Fairey Bower Beach, Manly, New South Wales, Australia on 4 October 1976. Manly is a suburb of Sydney near the northern headland of the entrance to Sydney Harbour.

Mike Rudd and Bill Putt were more well-known in their previous band(s), Spectrum and Murtceps from the early 1970’s.

The photo was taken with an Asahi Pentax SPII camera using Kodak colour transparency film.

The photo has been tweaked using Gimp software – select/copy/paste tools to remove some imperfections.
