The Grumman TBM Avenger was used by the US Navy (& others) as a torpedo bomber during World War Two. Postwar it was also used as a firebombing aircraft.
This particular aircraft is one of three owned by Steve Searle of Beaudesert, Queensland, Australia – at least two of which are flying and have appeared together at air shows.
The design was created using Gimp software: the aircraft image was isolated from a photo I took using Selection + Colour To Alpha tools, the titling was made using Text tool and coloured using Blend by Gradient – “TBM” using Linear Shape and “Avenger” using Spherical Shape. All the titles also had a yellow Drop Shadow added behind.
