Dmitri Matkovsky

Toronto, CANADA

Education: Bachelor of Visual Art, Muchina College of Industrial Art in St. Petersburg, Russia 1978 – 1983

After 25 years in rock’n’roll business I came back to my acrylic experiments. My native city, St.Petersburg is the city of Russian culture: Hermitage, Russian Museum etc, Kirov ballet, Leningrad Rock club just anything you want.
As a kid I was strongly influenced by Gustav Klimt and Claude Monet, Paul Cezanne and Edgar Degas. Is that so bad?

Since moving to Toronto, I replaced my brush with pouring acrylics and palette knife.
I have a special love for the space and silence.
“Shuniya, Silence is the mother of the music where colors are notes.”

From 2001 I live in Toronto, ON, Canada.
Large 50"x 50" canvases is my strength.
I’m also a musician, a freelance writer, and Hatha Yoga in Siddha Yoga instructor.
