    i could grab it by the collar and shake it till it’s gasping and sobbing and begging me to “stop, for god’s sake, leave me alone!”....defeated, it staggers to a chair and takes everything out of its pockets and places them on a table for me to inspect, while it wipes it running nose and teary face with the sleeve of its tattered coat…it looks up at me and asks, “why?”
    i give it an icy stare and reply, “Because I had to,” then put its goodies into my pocket, turn on my heel, and leave.
