you may recall this journal
Well the record label that asked me to send some stuff to them declined to take me on board.
They liked a single track (the audio for this one here ) but said a simple ‘no’.
I didnt think it would happen anyway but its nice they liked even one track.
So, its business as usual, ill make my own MuscularTeeth CD and sell it without a middleman.
I told them it was very nice of them and that when i do make it big theyve obviously missed the boat.
In fact all this has done has highlighted the fact that my own determination and abilities are whats needed – dont rely on someone else.
im twice as focused as i was 10mins ago before the email.
:)

when i do make it big, they’ve obviously missed the boat. Hope you were polite. They may change their mind. (They might be reading this.) Nearly every recording artist is rejected at least once.
I’m twice as focused as i was 10mins ago before the email. Good line. Glad to hear it. Keep up the good work. Everyone hear is watching you.

i said it how its said here. you think im going to regret it if they come back? hella no.
plenty of famous musicians have been refused offers from x label company only to be picked up by y. then make it huge.
its seriously no big deal cos i AM going to do some cool stuff .
as for sleep – ill sleep when im dead. your here in adelaide too you know. its just as late for you lol.

I agree with what Cimmerian said MT too.
Personally I get tired of rejection…it wears me out and spurs me on to prove them wrong. From tearing my own heart out once too often, it seems to me that a lot of people we present our life’s work to, don’t take enough time to let it simmer in their heads for long enough, it’s the way of ‘timepoorness’.....but the people that make it, never give up….just like your little spidey-critter…..they just keep on keeping on…which is what you’re gonna do….and you’re gonna make it, i know it :)

I think my friend that rejctors are put out there purposely to test our commitment and passion, to make us stronger and more determined.Obviously :-D

I concur with Flower entirely…as one who is fond of spouting theories :) I do have a theory…
When you reach for something you truly WANT life has a funny way of putting up barriers, some small (ABN>>>Move your tail!) and some huge, sometimes disguised as an either or choice etc, etc.
If you want it sometimes you have to extend yourself and your work beyond rejections, inconvenience, too hard, not the right time.
There is no right time, no one perfect solution – just your will and your work. You want it you shall have it.
At present I have three opportunities converging that i have worked on for years, the next two months will be my ‘now prove it’ stage – daunting, but hugely exciting too. All my rejections led me here…many, many of them, the road eventually narrowed to a more focused truer version of my work and now the opportunities are present.
I wish you every success!

Keep on Trucking! Sorry to hear the rejection, but if you always keep it in your mind that you do it cause you love it, it won’t matter what anyone else says and you will keep creating…

Howdy partner.
I’ve had commercial (as in sellable and danceable trax) pop/ rock music for a living in more than 20 odd years of my now long life.
And in the beginning (early 80’s) as I was living in Hamburg Germany, a friend (Frank Wiedecke now a sound engineer at RTL+ European TV) and I had a duo (making songs in a then one of the first ever computer driven studios in the world …commodore 64 I think.. :
).), and that made our at that time revolutionary studio possible. As this team we were signed to Antenna Musik Verlag GMBH ( a scouting/ A&R/grooming outfit run and owned by Polygram records world division), with a guy named Michael Kramer as our A&R) for a period of four – five years.
They payed us a rather neat monthly sum of cash for publishing rights to all music we wrote (that they knew of anyway :
Through these years we got a very close look in to the world of music publishing, record sales, A&R practices and a lot more I could have done very well without.
It totally changed my mind about becoming a rock star (all young rokc musicians dream at the time …. with Bon Jovi and Bryan Adams to look up to :-).
It also changed my view on a lot of other shit too, and turned me on to a new path. One that lead to were I am today.
Shit I always do this…go on and on…..
What I am getting at here is that for a company to take interest at all, is something of a rear thing on this side of 1975.
Most of these A&R shits have bucket loads of cd’s and videos carried in to them every hour of the day.
Most of it hit the bin without even being opened (I know this for a fact…and no one knows haw many Beatles and Stones have found themselves in the basket, and given up).
Your reaction is the perfect one.
You live in a time and age were Stones and Beatles are last millenniums news, and record/publishing companies (you know the ones that has sucked our cultural heritage dry, and turned it in to a parody of it self) are starting to smell the cafe…and their cafe is cold….and the power is down.
The web is your savior.
Through the web you can reach the world with your music and visuals and make a very good living out of it in the process.
It aloud you to build all from ground up. in your way, and to charge what you wanna charge.
Just the very fact that they are looking you up is sound proof that this is your way….this is your time and this is fuc&%ยค GREAT!!!!!
POS :-)
What happened to you is nothing short of unusual if not to say unheard of for the last 40 years
