marram inlet.... by David Murphy

Across the bay from Stanley lies this marram-grass and sand-dune-covered neck of land that runs from the Black River mouth. The grasses cover the sand, whilst the wind whizzes through them, swaying them in all directions…..

    A total delight!
I’m am very taken with how the marram grass dominates this image in both the amount of space it consumes and also as a theme, yet goes nowhere near overwhelming it.
The other elements: the sky, the sand dune and the river, all play very strong parts too.
As always David, a top image from you that has been brought together beautifully. Thank you!

  • Terrific thoughtful comment Jeff……thanks mate!!
It was a Very windy afternoon, and the marram was actually constantly moving, which is evident in the grasses about midframe.
I actually wanted to capture a blurred grass effect to illustrate the movement, but this one image had virtually none at all in the foreground…..and turned out to be the one i liked best!! The clouds were stunning……..big fluffy things everywhere!! This place is one that you always look at, but never get there, but today I decided to go and was amazed at what was there!!

  • Thankyou Trudi…… like what i initially liked too, but ended up going for the one image that i had that showed minimal movement…..go figure!! LOL
