wind bent.....

David Murphy

wind bent.....

Coastal Banksias, west coast, Tasmania, Australias island state…..
Twisted, warped, aged…...and windswept…..these tough old trees hang in there while nature, in the form of the Roaring Forties winds, tries to uproot everything in its path. No other tree grows this close to the coastline, other than tea trees…..and in an effort to survive, they gradually lean with the wind, and form these gnarly trunks…....
Banksias are really Cool!!

Canon 400D

bullants biting madly inside my trousers
...had to lie on the ground for the best angle!!

Unbelievable David! I feel like I always repeat myself in my comments on your work but this is just so breath taking! Fantastic angle making it have an almost other worldly feel to it. The composition is wonderful with the bent tree being sucked into that beautiful sky. Dead serious, without gushing too much more and causing your head to swell…..this is probably one of my favourite images of yours to date. You keep getting better even when I think that couldn’t be possible. Your talent is really amazing :)

  • David Murphy replied

It just took me ten minutes to get my head thru the loungeroom door….....LOL

  • MattyCE

    MattyCE

Hi Murph, this has a depth within it that tells the story of the west coast. A tragic, heartbreaking and beautiful story. This would have to be one of the best photos I’ve seen. And as someone with a degree in visual arts, I don’t say that lightly. Matty.

  • David Murphy replied

Wow Matty…....thats an awesome comment, and coming from me, who hasn’t got a degree in anything, I mean every word!!
It is cogniscent of the West Coast history, I agree…...there is something in the violence that emanates from the trunk, in particular…...its pain from the forceful and constant strain sort of shows me that. In a way….
Thankyou for the great comment…...make sure you drop by again!!
