MARS......
On what has to have been an absolute photographers dream trip, Dick Hardy (check him out on RB) and I did a fantastic trip down the West Coast of Tasmania (the island state of Australia). After an hour and a bit of an early morning drive to Temma, we rode down on a couple of 4wd quad bikes to the Thornton River, not far from Sandy Cape. It took us 4 hours return, but what a sight!! The dunes were on fire!! .....with light, with colour, with texture,.........ok, Everything!! A big blue sky, full of fluffies, and we were in Heaven. 6 hours of trudging up dune and down dale, and we were stuffed!! But, whatever the photographic results turned out to be, it was an absolute BUZZ to just go and see these amazing dunes, and the coastline, the middens…..the lot!!

Mate, THAT was a wild trip down….the road was chopped up and flooded, a lot of traffic recently did that. And we took the beach road back to Temma, which took ages…...plus I got bogged several times!! Can appreciate the changing colours of ones daks…...I pooped my pants at least three times, thinking I was either gonna be drowned or squashed!!

Gday Cathy…...well, to be honest, I’ve had a fetish for dunes ever since I spotted your monos, and I’ve been pestering my mates into doing a trip down the coast where these relatively unphotographed dunes are…...and finally we did…...and no regrets afterwards!!

Wow…thank you! I’m glad you went because this photo is worth every bit of it. I have a passion for dunes also, and am very lucky to live so near the dunes that Ansel Adams and Edward Weston used to walk and photograph. Oceano Dunes is just about 15 minutes drive from my home. Every time I go out there it just amazes me.
