Fleetingly by Anne van Alkemade

Available to buy on…

How can something that burns so brightly
be gone with just a breath?
A shiny light in the nighttime skies
to meet its cosmic death?
The sweetest smile on the sunniest day
to be darkened by the clouds
The gentlest soul to grace this earth
to be so quickly wrapt in shrouds?
It’s the saddest question we mortals ask
when faced with something ephemeral
and the brighter you burn the faster you return
to the cosmos infinite, inevitable.

I’m a fan of adding prose/poetry/writing, etc. with the photo; just gives it that extra
“oomph”, doesn’t it? If this is your writing…do more! Love it.
And good capture as well. :)
