Artist's Description

Marking the start of monsoon(July-August), Teej festival is celebrated with great joy and colorful customaries throughout northern India specially in Rajasthan. It is traditionally a norm to apply mehndi(Henna) during Sawan Utsav(Teej). Not only married women but young girls also apply mehndi on this occasion. I captured this henna painted hands during Sawan Utsav in Aug,2010.
