Willow Tree

I am sitting here
On the bank beside the stream
The willow trees around me
Creaking in the wind
I sit here and dream…

I get up, turn around
There’s a shadow in a shadow
A shape amongst the leaves
And you are there, watching
Yet I do not see

I stand there, stood there
Longing to be loved
The stream rushed by me
Time stood still, stands still

I am still waiting to see you,
Moving with the breeze
For I know that when I do
My chains will be cast free

But until that time
I will sit here
Waiting. Crying.
By the willow tree

Sometimes longing can be so painful…

I was born in Zimbabwe, used to live in the middle of nowhere and now just live in boring old York

Which is nice.

This is really good writing and has a lot of life experience behind it, it’s hard to believe your not much older. Thanks for sharing from your heart.

  • Thanks. I wrote it when I was really missing Zimbabwe a few years ago. Moving continents is quite a life changing experience! Since then I have realised how much it speaks about how I sometimes feel when I am far away from God. He is always there, even when I don’t realise it or am looking elsewhere.
