Bloody amazing that no-one’s taken a pot shot at the windows!

Which puts it way ahead of the house I’m living in now. Very nice looking place, there.
Mark Ramstead replied
A window problem? Isn’t it cold there?
EnVee
wonderful shot!! I love the perspective here and the sky is great too! this angle makes the eyes explore the whole scenery :) well done
Karina Sanchez
Man…you got excellent cloud cover that day…may I ask, when did you take this?
Mark Ramstead replied
I think May 2007. A friend and I spent the entire day in Bodie, and I was hoping for a nice sunset but that light petered out…
Arletta
Someone has broken a lot of window panes out, cracked a few others, etc. Some of them matter less than others, due to the insane way the house was built. And no, not cold .. because I’m in Arizona. It does get cold, due to being too humid during bits of the winter, here, but mostly decidedly other than cold is its nature.
EarthGipsy
I’d love to explore inside! Great angles and sky.
DWarren
Great angle on this and the colors are extraordinary! Amazing too that in that kind of climate that the windows, etc. are intact…
Mark Ramstead replied
The place is protected by rangers. However there was a time when it wasn’t.. The wood at Bodie loves film, it just looks like it has been HDR’rd tight out of the camera. This photo was not HDR’rd though I did try to increase the available ranges of tones.
Laurie Search
I want to live there! :)
Mark Ramstead replied
Apply for a ranger job there!
KnittedKitten
America has some of the best residential architecture in the world…...... I am so impressed that the windows are still intact…..........wouldn’t happen here, I afraid.
Wonderful image…...

NatashamenoN P...
great composition
SueAnne
AWESOME shot, I have never seen it photogrpahed at this angle. What a perfect day the sky was for you also. Do you do HDR?
Mark Ramstead replied
I have made one HDR of my garden but I do not know how to convert that tiff into a jpg yet because of the bits issue. I know how to combine different exposures into one image anyway, and may just do it myself rather than use a program. I own a quality Nikon wide angle lens, that I used for this shot.
