Woody Guthrie. _This Land is Your Land. _
That’s all you have to say. We need heroes whose weapon is their mind and a guitar.
Especially heroes whose guitar says “This Machine Kills Fascists”.
Although July 14th, 2012 was the celebration of Woody’s 100th Birthday, you can sing a verse of his most famous song on any day.Even better, sing this oft forgotten verse (It sums up why I respect Woody):
“As I went walking I saw a sign there ,And on the sign it said ‘No Trespassing.’
But on the other side it didn’t say nothing, That side was made for you and me.”

The image is my slight adaptations to Al Aumuller’s 1943 photo of Woody. I wanted to emphasize his haggard look, because although tired – he does not give up.
The Original can be found in the New York World-Telegram and the Sun Newspaper Photograph Collection at the Library of Congress. It is in the public domain.

I work daily at becoming a better husband, father, educator, and artist.
Most days I get at least 3 out of 4.
But as Jimmy Cliff says:“You must try,try and try, try and try, you’ll succeed at last”
