Warren Zevon’s Werewolves of London is one of those songs that as soon as it finishes, I put it on again. Songs so nice you play them twice – llke a de capo aria. It is one of two songs that I do that to on his 1978 Excitable Boy album.
As you know, a werewolf was walking through the streets of Soho with a menu in his hand looking for a restaurant called Lee Ho Fook’s because he needed some Beef Chow Mein.
Lee Ho Fook’s is still on Gerrard Street in London. Gerrard street (of Great Expectations fame) was also where Led Zepplin first rehearsed.
This is not the logo for Lee Ho Fook’s, It is my own creation.
If Google’s translator is to be believed, the Chinese characters say “Werewolves of London”
It seems like the correct way to render that is “London’s Werewolves”. There is always a chance that I have screwed this up and my characters say " Don Lon Wolves Were", but I think I got it right:)
Go get some Beef Chow Mein. I hear it is delicious.
And don’t forget to enjoy every sandwich.
