My heart is splitting
I found myself in your eyes
When I kissed you
As we sat beneath the stars
Under the canopy of night
A jeweled black blanket
That stretched almost as far
As my love for you
Your hand in mine
Two flawed people
Who became for that moment
Perfect to each other
And the constellations cried
For the beating of my heart
Was too loud
For those ghosts of old to bear
Their rain fell upon us
Still we remained embraced
Against the wind and water
Defying for an instant
The cold fate of life
The frigid destiny of love
But only for an instant
And now my heart is splitting
As I watch you fall away
I tried to hold on
But your fingers just slipped
Right through mine
Now I am alone
With your scream echoing
In my soul
I’m left with that one instant
When love was enough
To keep the fates at bay

I agree with DG in her choice, but this one speaks to me strongly as well. Reminds me of a person and a time when I thought this was true, we both did – once.
Another for the fav section. Thanks mt

How you manage to find just the right words and timbre, to express so distinctly the feelings and emotions indicative of your work, never fails to astound me.
Two flawed people
Who became for that moment
Perfect to each other
Such poignant, hope filled lines that brought tears to my eyes.
Your poetry comes from such a deep place, it can never fail to move.

Thank you for such a kind comment. If my work fails to move than I feel I have failed as a writer. Glad you liked this, thanks for taking the time to read.
