Watching the Watchmen
I went and saw it the other day, I wasn’t overly impressed but nor did I feel it did a disservice to Alan Moore’s masterpiece. The opening credits which showed the transformation of the group (set to Bob Dylan’s The times they are a-changin) and Jackie Earle Haley’s performance were the highlights for me.
What struck me as strange were all the parents attending this movie with their children most of these kids could not have been older than ten. Did those parents think that they were going to see a movie that was like Batman or Superman? And if that was the case I find myself wondering how many of those parents are going to be able to explain to their children what it was they just saw?
Normally I have no problem with things like this, but I just don’t feel that a ten year old has any business watching that movie with or without a parent present.
But who am I to judge?
