Gold Coast student Graphic Design exhibition

Robina Art Gallery will open its doors to host the third annual Glimpse design exhibition on October 22nd. The exhibition, which runs over two weeks, will showcase the prestigious works from the Gold Coast’s most innovative young graphic designers from The Designworks College of Design in Burleigh Heads.
Glimpse will offer the public a rare peek into an exciting, diverse collection of artwork including illustration, typography, branding, digital design, multimedia and packaging design. All artworks on display will be made available for public purchase with the proceeds going to the charity organisation Childhood Cancer Support.
As well as sale of artworks, Glimpse designers, through their website, will also donate the proceeds of clothing designs and the exhibition’s official souvenir book …

The search is on for Queensland’s best spoken word poet. Australian Poetry Slam 09 is an electric live event and poetry competition where anyone can perform their words and members of the audience judge the performances. State finals will be held on 17 October at the State Library of Queensland. The two top slam poets will compete for the title of Australian Slam Poet 2009 and $10,000 cash at the nationals in Sydney.

Laughing Waters Artist-in-Residence Program 2010

Nillumbik Shire Council, with Parks Victoria, invites emerging and established contemporary artists from any art form to apply for the Laughing Waters Artist-in-Residence Program 2010. The residency of up to three months, between April and November, is in bushland near Melbourne. Artists are required to contribute to cultural development within the Shire through community projects. Applications must be received by 18 September.

AU$45,000 competition first prize...

Gold Coast City Council is seeking submissions for the Gold Coast Cultural and Civic Precinct Master Plan ideas competition. The aim is to generate creative new ideas, stimulate community discussion and identify design features to be incorporated in the future development. Ninety thousand dollars will be awarded to first place, $45,000 to second place and $15,000 to third place. Submissions are due 30 September.
