The Saga Continues…
Inspired by Dr. Who, MSTK-3 & other sci-fi shows
The backdrop for this one is Quark’s Bar ~ not the one aboard DS-9: the one which used to be in Vegas at the Star Trek Casino. Alas! It’s gone today. It was Very Cool – no Trekker should have missed it, gambling aside. The casino itself was a space station. Every now and then, alarms went off when Klingon ships attacked (you could see them coming through the open portals in the ceiling). The bartenders dressed in Starfleet uniforms. There were aliens around at every turn. They also had a Trek Museum (fantastic!) and a ride. The ride was a realistic simulation of a wild trip aboard a shuttlecraft with Klingon battlecruisers close behind! When you deboarded – somewhat dizzy – there it was ~ Quark’s Bar, complete with the Ferengi’s! Nearby of course, was the obligatory Star Trek Store ~ where everything was so expensive even I didn’t buy a solitary thing (didn’t think I had a real need or the bankroll, to own the Enterprise in GOLD (!) or spend $600 on a ST leather jacket!)
In the latter 90’s it was very popular (had to wait at least an hour for the ride) so I was taken back a little when I heard they changed it all to something else. Then — Vegas IS an Alternate Universe! lol
Brushes (characters) derived from photos of my figures, as always. Tom’s double (blue) is drinking Romulan Ale; I had some once, but gave it to my son – another Trekker – so for this, I used a clip.
Little robots in the background, each with their own metal dogs, are derived from vintage toys.
At this point in time, the ’bots really ARE “Where No One Has Gone Before!”
