“Dora and her Brood”

My grandmother, my dad (far left), his brothers Ernie, Phil and Theodore. Unedited

The family – that dear octopus from whose tentacles we never quite escape, nor, in our inmost hearts, ever quite wish to.

    aren’t these just priceless?

  • Thanks, CheyAnne! Yes — doubly precious, because over time (I moved too much!) I lost the majority of vintage family photos which I used to own. Actually it wasn’t all that long ago… saved them for decades and decades, and then pffft! They disappeared. Upsetting, to say the least!!! But at least I still have some! I appreciate your comment!

quite the dressy outfits for at the beach!! LIZ great to still have these !!

  • Thanks for your comment, liz! I had the same thought — or more to the point, what would she have thought, today??? Mind you, she was quite the Wild One – not that you can tell from this! But that’s another story for another time…

This is fabulous , you can’t help but smile at the way they are dressed ( for the beach ) lol

  • Thanks, Irene! Truth be known, she was quite the Wild One. Not that you would know it, here. Times were different then (as to how they dressed) but in the end, people really weren’t. Much later in her life I got to know her very well. I do believe, she out-did me in that department!! And my life has not been — shall we say, “exactly staid.” LOL! About two weeks before she died – she was 80, then – she rode her motorcycle up and down the coast of California. By herself. Not for the first time, even though it was the last. One cool lady! (I did have to laugh at little Theo, though. You’d swear he was a girl here, not a boy!)

Aww – this is great – I can see that writing on photos was common in these days – I have a lot of old photos plastered with greetings and stuff – I have been trying to get rid of it – but on this one it doesn’t seem to disturb the picture – it adds to it.
    Instant fav for me :o))

  • Thanks for much and thank you for the fave! She did tend to write on her all her photos. Apparently, she sent this to someone… I have no idea who it was. Either way, it ended up with me. I appreciate your comment!
