Yet another world where only long-abandoned artifacts remain… mute testaments to races lost forever and forgotten in the backwash of Eternity

We may find Earth-like planets ~ie, small rocky worlds orbiting their suns in the so-called “Goldilocks Zone”, where conditions and temperatures could foster Earth-like life and even sentient beings much like us. Whether we will find the sentient beings, is another thing! It’s not just the mammoth size of Space: it’s the equally unthinkable abyss of Time. The Earth is 4 billion years of age, give or take. Relatively speaking, Humanity has been here merely for a flicker of an eye. What are the odds of syncing up?

That is a great statistical question to ponder there in your description!

  • Thank you, Bruce!

Love your worlds, Nadya . . . so colorful . . . I guess when there are only robots left on earth, we won’t be here to worry about it . . . LOL

  • Thanks for your great comment, Carol! I used to think (hope) it was a Star Trek Universe… so-called M-class worlds aplenty, all much like home. Well, now they’re finding exo-planets and they’re out there by the billions, apparently. But so far, 99% are hell worlds and the rest are question marks. So far, no new Earths! But the you have to stop and realize the Earth itself was a “hell world” during certain geologic epochs, too. Time is totally a factor. In the end ~ not a Star Trek Universe, I guess! alas

Kinda scary, actually – but maybe that’s because it could happen!! Wonderful creation!

  • Thank you, Monnie! I suspect it will happen… minus all the toy robots, of course. LOL!

Your comment, (description), solicits an answer. It is not so much about what we may find as it is what we take with us, and if we desire to make ‘contact’ with other intelligent beings, the first thing we humans must accomplish is our own civility! We are failing at this.To take an aggressive/defensive philosophy with us, such as we now practice on a global basis here on Earth, we will not just be colonizing new worlds, we will be spreading a social pathology in the same way. In order to survive as a species, we must learn how here on Earth, and when we leave, we must leave such behaviors behind. It will be our first real test! I think we will fail.As for time travel, humans can do it in bed! We can remember our past, imagine the future and anticipate possibilities through reason!
  • Sadly Pete, I think you’re right about our failings as a species. While I was doing this, I couldn’t help but think perhaps this world was green and wooded prior to the coming of the colonists… but. as we seem intent on doing here, maybe they destroyed the place. The “advanced” cultures of the world discard 44,000 tons of trash ~ AN HOUR! Much of it is electronic waste (old computer, phones, etc) which we send to poorer countries, such as Indonesia. Lucky them, they get the repercussions of the toxic junk we throw away like yesterday’s news. Could be, the stars are so far apart through Cosmic Design. Keeps us home! Seeing as we can’t behave. Thanks for your thought provoking comment!

No room at the Inn, huh? :-p

  • Well, I haven’t really told the story yet… the ‘bots were unexpectedly re-activated by the back-up systems on Mars Colony 6, following a massive solar flare that decimated not just Mars but Earth. Now, they’re on a trek across the galaxy in search of life. So far not too much success! But then, who knows what they will find? Thanks for checking in!
