Lothos theorized that transitory vortices in space and time must exist in places… thin spots fluctuating in the fabric of reality like curtains in a wind. After all, human-sightings dated to antiquity. Hundreds were reported every year. Some were hoaxes, others outright lies, still others simply misidentified (although he wondered what on Earth could be mistaken for a skinny hairless primate wearing clothes!). The fact was, he’d seen a few and heard their horrid wailing in the forest more than once, himself. He’d even seen their metal monsters once, and knew the tales of their smoky tails and their fearsome glowing eyes were true as well. Yet for all of that the creatures were impossibly elusive and to date, very little evidence of their existence had been confirmed. They appeared, then they disappeared: they must be moving to and fro through windows into co-existent worlds where things were not the same. What other explanation could there be?
Kordak wouldn’t hear it. “Rubbish! Give it up. You probably heard a fox or something in the brush. There is NO ONE in the woods but YOU AND ME! Humans are a myth. Right up there with giant metal birds!”
Skeptics come in every breed.
