My Reflection

1) Mirror, Mirror
2) hanging on my wall
1) where’s that girl
2) standing strong and tall
1) Mother, Mommy
2) where did I go wrong
1) I pray to the heavens
2) hoping you hear my song
1) Father, Daddy
2) you held me so tight
1) always your little girl
2) after I took flight
1) Husband, Ex-Husband
2) held my heart in your hand
1) your tongue bitter with time
2) ‘til I could no longer stand
1) Husband, Ex-Evil
2) you don’t deserve more lines
1) life sucked from my core
2) in my story and rhymes
1) Husband, Ex-Everything
2) though I laid blistered and blue
1) broken, tattered and torn
2) I have one gift from you
1) My Child, My Son
2) my mark on this earth
1) see your mother has healed
2) blessed by your birth
1) Beautiful Girl, Wonderful Woman
2) with the power to overcome
1) burdens and mistakes undone
2) she sat and wrote this poem

I have numbered these lines because there are actually 3 poems in this verse.
A) Read from beginning to end.
B) Read only the odd lines numbered with 1.
C) Read only the even lines numbered with 2. However read, it still has the same meaning to me.

My story is not new, but my outcome is my mine and I’ve learned to embrace my story. I’d share it with the world and help all women know their beautiful:) Thank you again…

To me, I read the seed of a new beginning earned, burned, and learned. Loved:

“held my heart in your hand
    your tongue bitter with time
‘til I could no longer stand”

    Beautiful,
    Peece,
    DJ

  • Thank you very much DJ! I like the new beginning earned, burned and learned comment. It was all of those things. Thanks again for the kind comment:)
