Flagler College, St. Augustine, FL by

At one time, this was a prestigious hotel in St. Augusine FL. It is now a fine Liberal Arts college. One of the main studies is the training of teacher of the deaf. The dining room hall windows are all by Tiffany. Originally the school was the Hotel Ponce de Leon. It was built as a luxury resort in 1887 by Henry Flagler, a co-founder of Standard Oil with John D. Rockefeller, and later a railroad tycoon who dotted Florida’s east coast with opulent hotels.

Margaret my daughter wanted to go to this college. She ended up in one here, but did visit this wonderful college. I wish I would have had the money so she could have gone away to this college, I love the history all around St Augustine. What great info on this school as well would love to see that dining room. Nice photo

  • I am sorry she was not able to go here, but I know wherever she is. she will do well. What is her major? I have photos of the dining room and will upload them. Thanks for stopping by.

This looks like a picture shot in Florence, Italy. Great composition, Bill

  • The architecture is Spanish. St. Augustine was founded by the Spaniards and is the oldest city in the USA. It is beautiful city drenched in history. Thanks for stopping by.
