Great shot, Margaret. I surely does look like a Black Widow with that red hour glass kind of shape on its back. I am glad you said it was not! Your detail is fantastic!

  • Thanks, Sue. Black widows are more bulbus and smaller. They really have a whole different look. I think the first time I saw one of these guys, I got a little concerned. I DO NOT want to take any photos of black widows. That’s where my tolerance wears thin and my foot takes over.

Awesome detail! Love the color. He’s nice, And I hate spiders!

  • Thanks, chinet. He really is friendly, except when his web gets in my way. I don’t like spiders on me, but from a distance, they’re okay.

the markings on this guy show it as an orchard orbweaver. very common in the Florida underbrush. great shot of the underside.

  • YEA!! Thanks! Now I know. They are my favorite in my garden. It greets me every morning, and I gently walk around it’s web, until the web gets in my way. Then I give it something to do with the rest of it’s day.

Fantastic capture of an orchard spider Margaret. They have so many wonderful colors in them and the first reaction to seeing them from underneath is the venomous black widow. Very well captured. :)

  • Thanks, Kathy. They are such a great garden spider. I did not know the name of this little creature, although I do enjoy seeing it in my yard. Glad you stopped by. I really admire your work.
