2011 (year in review)

I don’t really follow numerology,
astrology or Scientology,
but during 2010 I suspected
2011 would be a big year.

From 3-Feb-11 it was
The Year of the Golden Rabbit.
My partner in love and life
was born 36 years before.
Although I like celebrating
birthdays; him not so much.

I’ve always been so desperate
to be in my 30s – like I always
knew it would be my best age,
my time to shine beautifully.
But life throws its curve balls
and March was an unwanted
kick to my consciousness.

Early March, I did not know
I should have been noticing
warning signs. By the end of
that quarter, I was twisted
and torn, reeling, at a form of
injustice I’d barely known existed.

Throughout the year, Madness
was my primary theme. Immersed in
a power struggle with the pharma PTB,
suffering panic attacks
and anxiety, but through it all,
I strived to hold strong and firm.

I abandoned my career in April,
taking an uncharted course.
Learning the true meaning
of romantic love, I embraced it
Sincerely Forevermore

We left our Brunswick home
for Ballarat, and coped well
with the ongoing adversity.
Certain of our mutual love,
we became peaceful even with
the disruption; truly blessed.

There were triumphs
big and small in 2011,
like denouncing alcohol
, or even
rediscovering beauty.

My 2011 poetry journey went from
Watching: before, beyond
to the broken places,
and it reminds me yet again
as we enter 2012, still together,
definitely stronger, and maybe
just a little bit more clever, that
there is so much to love.
