There is much to love

There is much to love
about Christmas, but as I
gift wrap for children,
sprinkling stars and glitter
or tying a red bow,
all I consider is how
her eyes will glimmer
or his will sparkle and shimmer,
rather than further bemoan
the commercialisation debate.

Christmas is not meant to be
a time of anger anyway.
Adults’ lost innocence
means little next to
sought-after happiness.

All children deserve to smile,
or squeal in delight at all the treats
prosperity delivers, not worry
about the dollars and cents –
nor sense all the chaos
and confusion some people
are feeling.

At Christmas, when I ponder
waste and wishful thinking,
I consider the following
my most important wishes:

1) May life always be an adventure
you tackle and enjoy uproariously.

2) May you believe in all the things
which make you smile and laugh.
Whatever gives you happiness!

3) May you dream sweetly, peacefully,
excited and bursting for each new day.

There is so much to love;
it fills my heart with cheer.
Thank you for listening
as Christmas is here!

There is much to love
