All Was Black - Quiet collab

Sometimes my self just disappears into this infinite space of nothingness

The wall was black;
Bleak like my mind.
Filth-smeared with grime
And thoughts unkind.

I raise my hand to confront the negative energy

As I close my eyes with a sigh,
I wonder Is it time to be quiet?
Embracing ignorance and fear,
Or perhaps I should start a riot?

I am burdened as dark emptiness surrounds me

Fear whispers Hush, my sweet, quiet.
Please close your fading mind.
No need for more than silence.
Unconscious do not disturb.

I want to watch fear cascade from wall to the floor

But, I wonder, Are you gone?
Black-obsessed, I have nothing to say.
Depraved dreams and thoughts fester,
Which means I’m unable to find my way.

Even though all is black and quiet

A glimmer of light extends from my hand.
My quietened tongue and mind
Begins to awaken, and think again,
Aspiring for what it needs to find.

Smashing Pumpkins – Quiet

I am sleeping
in here
We need a little hope

For years
I’ve been sleeping
Helpless
Couldn’t tell a soul

Be ashamed
Of the mess you’ve made
My eyes never forget, you see
Behind me

Silent
Metal mercies
Castrate
Boys to the bone

Jesus
Are you listening?
Up there
To anyone at all

We are the fossils
The relics of our time
We mutilate the meanings
So they’re easy to deny

Be ashamed
Of the mess you’ve made
My eyes never forget, you see
Behind me

Quiet
I am sleeping
Quiet
I am sleeping
Quiet
I don’t trust you
I can’t hear you

Be ashamed
Of the mess you’ve made
My eyes never forget, you see
Behind me

Behind me
The grace of falling snow
Cover up everything you know
Come save me from the awful sound
Of nothing

I’ll defer to Anna Quindlen, of The New York Times: “People who are knowledgeable about poetry sometimes discuss it in that knowing, rather hateful way in which oenophiles talk about wine: robust, delicate, muscular. This has nothing to do with how most of us experience it, the heart coming around the corner and unexpectedly running into the mind. Of all the words that have stuck to the ribs of my soul, poetry has been the most filling.”
