In the valley were they once knew my name

As I run through the valley where they once knew my name
I look up and see a sight so insane.
What’s before me is the greatest quarry men ever made
and trees line it like some kind of insulate.
Protecting passersby from a sight so humane
in the valley where they once knew my name.
I was worshipped, adored and loved in this place
now it’s a loveless shrine for an industrial race.
The faith is dying like a lion whose leg’s lame
in the valley where they once knew my name.
Believers now look elsewhere for relief
purses are drawn to bribe for a good brief.
Charities are funded and nothing is achieved
in the valley where men once believed.

As I walk through the valley where they once knew my name
half-blind I see a sight so insane.
Before me is the greatest mess my people ever made
and high walls line it to give the workers shade.
No longer do they trust me and faith is a game
in the valley where they once knew my name.
Industrialisation seems to be the new creed
a lawyer is hired to write up a new land deed.
Charities are still funded and belief is reclining
in the valley where contractors are dining.

I crawl through the valley where they once knew my name
ll blind I can’t see a sight so insane.
Before me is the greatest cesspit my nose ever smelled
I shudder and my taste for more is quelled.
Soon I shall cease to be, not die for that I cannot,
my fortune has opposed me, such is my lot.
Charities are no longer funded and faith is all gone,
In the valley where my name is no more than a yawn.

As I think about the valley where they once knew my name
I recall the events that were so insane.
I was known as great Gaia yet belief vanished
instead of healing, the sores on earth replenished…

I crawl through the valley where they once knew my name
my vision returned I see a sight so insane.
Before me is a power plant I never thought I’d see,
It uses the sun to avoid burning parts of me.
Old glory is restored and I bask in new fame,
In the valley where they once knew my name.
My name remains unknown, my importance not,
I may be forgotten but preserving me is hot.
Charities are still funded and belief is reclining,
In the valley where I’m no longer pining.

As I walk through the valley where they once knew my name
the contrasts are sharp accentuating a sight so insane.
Before me I see trees lining the streets of a town,
Negligence pushed aside, new world in a green gown.
People revere me, still unaware of my old game
In the valley where they once knew my name.
