Around the 5th of December, “Sinterklaas” (St Nicholas) made it (“all the way from the Netherlands- if you still believe”) to various locations, in and around Sydney and elsewhere, in Australia.

(When the Dutch settled in New Amsterdam – later New York – they took the “Sinterklaas”-celebration with them and he morphed into Santa Claus.)
.
It was good fun playing the Sinterklaas songs, on the piano-accordion. Particularly, here, in Petersham Park.

In 1969, I enrolled in the “Art Teachers Conversion Course”. It was my first experience of formal art lessons. Soon other interests prevailed, until, I had lunch, in Hazelhurst and then enjoyed the art classes there. Culminating in my exhibition, in 2008.

Now if the Dutch had got on with colonising Australia……….Sinterklaas would have visited EVERYBODY and Christmas time would have seen less Santas. It could have happened. See here
