the locals begged us to sponser them…
to come and live in Australia.
They were over the entrenched corruption,
that was obvious, even to us travellers….

I remember crossing the road and having an old man come up to us, place his hands together and bow and say ‘Thankyou for visiting Cambodia…’
Children who spoke better English than some of the kids back home..
There’s a dignity of character and a real unrelenting perseverance and unconquerable will I saw in these people.. it was really humbling.. and I always think twice about the stresses in my own life when I think of what they’ve been through..

your last sentence there sums it up well. the society in which i live expects far too much; if only they knew how some others have got it…
