Shwezigon Pagoda, Burma
This temple is in the town of Nyaung U, in the historical area of Bagan, Burma. It was built in 1102 during the reign of King Kyanzittha. We caught it as the sun set, the light reflecting off the gold leaf stupa.

thanks wanda.. it is gold.. it’s covered in gold leaf which is an incredibly thin layer of gold that repeatedly malleted over a period of days..

Superb lighting – great shot. I spent a week in Bagan in 2006. It would have to be my favourite spot in Myanmar.

yeah I was there in May of 2006 .. had about a month to look around.. I’m still partial to a small town called Hsipaw on the road to Lashio, north-east of Mandalay.. such an amazing place.
