Two farmers having a chat, oblivious to the fact that they are taking up most of the road. I gained inspiration for this original drawing from the area where I live – roads out here tend to run in straight lines to the far horizon. This is a familiar scene in outback Australia with a brown dusty landscape and telephone poles that march off to nowhere. I used a combination of pen and ink, plus pastel tones smudged in the sky area.

It’s great, I like the detail of the dog and birds on the overhead lines and the background windmill and of course the chatting farmers. I love outback Australia and your pic makes me smile as well as feel quite nostalgic.

Thanks for your comment on my Semaphore Jetty shot MrCreator – don’t suppose you have many jetties in Clifton (I’m an ex-Toowoomba-ite) but if I could do aussie artwork such as you can do I don’t think I’d bother taking pics of jetties – I can’t draw for peanuts! :o)))

You’re right Kathy, not many jetties out here in Clifton – not all that much water actually. Keep up the coastal shots – the Semaphore one looks terrific.

So reminded me of childhood stays at my grandparents’ farm , but in Northumberland , which is rural England . The scenery is green and lush but the farmers and the dogs and the trucks and the easy going approach belying all the behind the scenes hard work of farming looks much the same . Thank you . I love your work .
