Apart from the Opera House, the Sydney Harbour Bridge must rank as one of the most recognisable Australian features. Artist Al Benge has this to say about his depiction of the famous ‘coathanger’.
“In creating this acrylic work of the Harbour Bridge, I was impressed by the strong silhouetted lines that the steelwork made against the sky. I’ve used a slightly abstracted splatter technique for the background, and feel that the strong architectural framework contrasts well against this. Additionally, there’s always something interesting going on in the harbour, and for that reason, I’ve included ferries, yachts etc to give life to the painting.
