Buyers' Booth - Catch of the Week

Now we have encountered quite a few classic catches over the years – like when the missus caught a giant carp with her bare hands, or the time I was sitting out in the backyard and caught a falling star (disclaimer: this may or may not have actually happened); however, nothing has quite impressed us so much as this truly amazing catch by emmah26.

A flying phone case? This may prove problematic if it decides to take off if the middle of an important phone call!

Congratulations Emmah, you are this week’s Buyers’ Booth Champ! To celebrate your catching prowess, the likes of which we have not seen since the golden cricket days of Rod Marsh, I’ll be sending you a tasty voucher.

Buyers' Booth - What Will the Neighbour's Think?

This week’s winning image of Spring Glasses by Aleksandra Kabakova brought back recent memories of finding my misplaced glasses out in the garden.

Mrs. B is quite the hoer and likes to keep her garden nice and tidy. Determined to scare the feathered foes away from her cabbages, Mrs B constructed a handsome scarecrow out of a fruit tree, my favorite jacket, and my glasses. She even drew a lipstick mouth onto the bark, at which point I became concerned that the neighbours would suspect she, as a tree hugger, had made second base.

Buyers' Booth - Blue Knees and Sand

The weather is starting to get colder here, which means that my knees are going an attractive kind of bluish-purple in preparation for winter. They’re my weather knees, you see. They always let me know when changes are coming.

So does Mrs B. She’s starting to bang on about going somewhere warm. Somewhere with a beach. Sweet Uncle Gin Pants! Doesn’t she know that beaches have sand? And … sun!
The woman is totally bonkers. Humph. A beach, really.

The closest I’ll be getting to a beach is looking at these rather nice cards by Karin Taylor. That poor little girl riding the dolphin seems oblivious to the fact that at any moment that dolphin is going to go deep and she’ll be having a very close inspection of the sand below.

Congratulations Anaa. We’ll be send…

Buyers' Booth - Eclipses, Doctors, and Pooh

It’s been a bit of a peculiar day. The Missus and I took a short holiday down to the beaches to get a little sun. Unfortunately, even slathering myself in cooking oil didn’t achieve much more than a bit of sand in some unlikely places, although, the lack of sun may have been due to Mrs. Baxter blocking out the sun in her bathers. In addition to the chafing, and complete eclipse of the sun, I had an unfortunate incident with a dodgy omelet and am off to the doctor’s.

Seeing how this week has taken a unsavory turn, I felt that this week’s winner was an appropriate choice. So congrats to you Soph75c, you wear Pooh well.

Buyers' Booth - Ranger Recruitment

Imagine my subdued surprise when upon entering this week’s Buyer’s Booth, I discovered blatantly and out in the open, an invitation for recruitment to one of Her Majesty’s Secret Services! In addition to Corgis, James Bond, and some diabolical creature referred to as, simply, Toad in a Hole, there is now a Royal Science Rangers division.

Well done, Donnahuntriss for this enlightening, and surely, classified discovery.

Buyers' Booth - Lucy and The Doctor

I had a rather odd dream in which I was required to wear not only pants, but yellow Wellington boots and a ridiculous Sunday Hat while attending my own birth. It was a particularly awkward experience which required a very long sitdown afterwards. A most irregular experience, let me tell you! Not one to be endured twice.

So I was rather uplifted to see this spiffing Doctor Who tee on the very exuberant Gypsygirl75. After all, The Doctor most likely wouldn’t be surprised in any way to find himself at his own birth.

I’m mildly concerned by the rather large elephant towering 6 stories over you. Whilst you and your sister don’t look in the least bit perturbed by a giant elephant named Lucy, you may be well served in remembering that The Doctor is in the habit of saving we r…

Buyers' Booth - The Pet Diaries

Dear Diary,

Sometimes I get lonely. My wife will go off and leave me alone for weeks on end whilst she’s off gallivanting with bikers and weaving hair lanyards or something depressingly proletariat like that. If only I had a pet like a dormouse or a gecko, I could pretend I had some normalcy in my life. Caring for a hairy thing other than my wife would make me appear more compassionate too, or summat. I’d quite like it if I had one like Itsvilma’s with super pet powers:

Or one that could potentially dress itself since I can’t quite manage that for myself, like poor mange-ridden EllasLead:

Why yes, I would quite like to feed my evil robot cat off my plate of questionable-looking orange ethnic food, like Jim Tee here. It would make me feel like at least there was

Buyers' Booth - The Collector's Edition

I’ve been quite taken of late by the Redbubble Art and Design Collections, so in the style of all great artists I’m going to steal from those who’ve come before me (ok, that’s barefaced lie, the truth is I don’t have an original bone in my body and am reduced to theft) and present the last few months of Buyers’ Booth winners in an astounding and artistically presented collection.

Buyers' Booth - 2012's first stars

We are well into 2012 now, so there’s been lots of time for people to upload fabulous pictures of their most splendid RedBubble purchases. I’ve got to admit there has been some corkers.

It’s always hard to pick out just a few – I’m telling you my job’s not easy, but I make a go of it. So without further procrastination on my behalf let’s get to the awards section.

January Winners

I’m not sure if this is some wonderful, but belated, Halloween costume – and in which case, gold star for effort – or if a wild fox has managed to get into your room, root around in your stuff, and been smart (or lucky) enough to pull on a matching T. Regardless, I’m loving the snap Blarion.

Buyers' Booth - December Winners (just a tad late...)

I was going to come up with some plausible excuse for my shameful absence from the Buyers’ Booth, but I’m afraid my imagination kept running away with me. I came up with escaped animals from the zoo and an encounter with an angry rhino; an emergency trip into outer space to save the earth from an asteroid; and being frozen in a cryogenics chamber. Then I realised I was just watching way too much late night TV and bad movies.

So my apologies for deserting you, my faithful Buyers’ Booth friends, I have no excuse but the hustle and bustle of the holiday season. Wow, did my sticky tape skills ever come in handy this year! But I am back now, and have the long overdue winners of the December Buyers’ Booth to announce.

A master of disguise! Who could it be? All I know i…
