Mr Baxter works here

Mr Baxter's RedBubble Rooftop - Come and Shout From It....

Right, so after the paramount success of this post asking your opinions, I’m testing this new idea right here and now and here, now.

Every Friday you can come here and shout about all the awesome new people you find. You get the whole day to stake your claims, which, due to interesting timezones, is about 50 something hours long.

Pick your favourite new image, tee, or written work, (just one I say, one, otherwise I’ll get all flustered and overcome) and tell me who it’s by and why you think it’s marvellous. Then I’ll peruse all your suggestions and pick one tee, one image and one written work from three different undiscovered talents, to talk about over the course of the following week.

The finder and the findee will both then get a free shipping voucher and of course, incredible publicity. Plus, the warm satisfaction that accompanies winning things. And maybe even some Limited Edition Certificates.

Let’s see how this goes then.

Regards,

Mr Baxter – Ambassador of Trying New Things Out When the Boss Isn’t Looking

I am absolutely blown away by likefleetwood. She is merely 18 years old and is already creating such beautiful and whimsical artworks such as

    come fly with me

    and

    Are you a stormcloud?

There is something so incredibly innocent about these works yet they hold a great deal of wisdom and eloquence beyond the years of the creator. The pallet that likefleetwood uses is child like yet has a ‘retro feel’. I really can’t stop looking at her work. I hope you all enjoy it as much as I. Oh and there are many, many more examples of genius at work, like:

piggy back: please don’t drop me

and her more serious sketches like:

    wiser

I am sure I was only meant to pick one work, but I am sorry that I couldn’t narrow it down more, cause its all great.

Sorry for not narrowing it down! From this collection I choose Are you a stormcloud as my favourite… (It appears all my links did not work either)

Good morning Mr Baxter, might I say you are looking in especially fine form today. Are those new shorts?

Anyhoo moving right along… whilst I realise that as a staff member I am not in the running for any of the lovely goodies up for grabs, I felt the need to give some recognition to a wonderful artist I stumbled across this week.

I couldn’t watchlist susanita fast enough.

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction, Baxie!

    My suggestion stands: Carrie Blake

The image I adore most of hers is this one:

Anyone can take a photo of a tree. Hell, I’ve done it many times. But this perspective is divine. I’m not so good with critiques and comments, so I shall let the image speak further for itself.

I like this picture because it’s exotic, and incredibly well painted, and I love the pretty teapot perched atop the urn, and the atmosphere is lovely.

This affected me on some primary level. The timing, low horizon, and title all appeal to me.

My boxer shorts were completely blown off Mr Baxter when I came across the new member Phillippa Garrard (joined April) from Brunswick Melb. You see my name is Phillipa Gerard (mostly aka Pip) from Mornington Peninsual Melb… so I really thought the universe a tiny little spec when I came across her. And then to top the cherry on the very top of my boxless bottom… she was a wonderful illustrator.. with style and uniqueness that really appealed to me! It was a joyous day for me I must say.
So here is Ms Garrad’s stand out work… as according to Ms Gerard! ;D

oops… just re-read your words Baxter old man and realised you’re asking for only one work! I’d have to go with this piece because it’s affects me on a deeper personal level…
Reason being… I love the symbolic nature of lion’s (as I do with elephants) Their strength and ability to overpower all obstacles in their way… to live an existence entirely of their true nature. I think I’m envious. And it’s Phillippa’s simple yet strong and effective line work that grabs me. (it’s a gift to be able to do that). Mixed with her subtle and gorgeous colours and little, not overpowering torn paper and special shapely beautiful embellishment in the corner… it ticks all my boxes!! (I’d buy it!) Plus the fact that the number 77 been collaged into the picture is also hugely significant to me cause I love the shape of the number and it’s the year I was born so of course it hits that really personal special spot with me.

I just discovered Lund this week, and I’m just blown away by his very mature t-shirt designs. they don’t only look rad, they have a message too… One of his newest work:

PS, “Ambassador of Trying New Things Out When the Boss Isn’t Looking” is the most awesome title ever. I want your shoes!

Awesome idea, this!!! Right now, I am madly in love/awe with the amazingly colourful and imaginative work of May Ann Licudine ; she is new to the Bubble and has not joined many groups, and as a result, she’s a bit of a hidden gem. She does the most beautiful, tender illustrations, both in acrylic/colour pencil and digitally. One of my favourites is Babu’s Love>

Without a shadow of a doubt – one of the most moving and visually brilliant works that I’ve seen in recent weeks is Vikram Frankin’s work Green isn’t always the colour of money. It’s one of these rare images where you are visually attracted by the composition and then the meaning hits you right between the eyes. Just Brilliant! – George

I want to favorite everything this chap, Mr Teejayelle has created.

This should explain why it’s so lovely- “Its a bit like that at the moment. “Burrrh” is the catchphrase of the month. This is really beautiful. It also makes me want to hop under a blanket and nip outside … The wash really pulls it all together. I’m glad I found you today. You have delightful whimsy.”

Nice idea and a good reason to browse my own favs’ list :) One of the works that have a really big impact on me (*) is la mer est calme by Rui Lourenço; there’s so much tranquility in it and it makes me think about things… ;)

Simple, sweet, whimsical design, great lines and character development. Instant fave!

I’m going to go find Bill Bailey and see if he ever found out how to turn fairy liquid into solid fairy.

I would like to introduce you to Aleonart (Aleona Isakova joined June 09) She is an artist and fashion designer and it shows! I cannot explain her portfolio better than she already has on her profile:
“Illustrating an allegorical version of Song of Songs, in which the bridegroom represents Jesus and the bride the human soul was her most recent project.”

Normally, I’m not much into ‘Bible art’ but there’s something about her work and I can’t look away! The detail, the fashion aspect….WOW! It was mighty hard picking only one image!

‘Awake, north wind, and come, South wind!’

Lito Yonzon’s work speaks for itself, but let me say a few words too. His palette reminds me of Gauguin and his technique infuses expressionism, post impressionism, and a hint of cubism. I see a true master at work here.

Friday Friday! No, I’ve not forgotten you, Baxie. Nor should anyone, at that rate!

here is my Pick for this week: MissRubyRouge

For me, this is her most striking iamge:

In one image, she has embodied the Beauty and the Beast which can be found in every woman. After a trip through her gallery of images, I find myself very grateful that I am not made of plastic stuffs. I also find myself wanting a sorbet …
