nikon d700 with my old analogue 85mm lens

i bought this little statue on an auspicious journey, the buddhist pilgrimage to the holy places of northern India. there was only one little stall with an expectant vendor behind it, no other visitors but an eager guide who was at the same time the guardian of the antique remains of a once bustling center of learning, Nalanda. we were an unusual group of pilgrims, my tibetan friend with his two little boys, a young student and three house mothers of an S.O.S. children’s village. and me, the odd one. the memories of this journey, the most meaningful i ever ventured on, the one that unexpectantly turned into a pilgrimage together with people i only just met and grew very fond of, these memories will always be cherished by me. and so will this little statue that emanates so much calm. for me it is the perfect symbol of religious tolerance. the stonemason who so masterfully carved such a peaceful buddhist expression out of the marble stone was most probably a local Muslim.

wow, what a beautiful experience. the soft light goes very well with the sentiment, it lets me connect with the state of calm and togetherness you described.
