wayward
Deep in a place with forgotten hope
where lovers lie and children weep
where the iron folds of deception so often lurk and creep
One soul, pure of heart
made a journey, without fear or regret
Her decent was swift
her objective clear
But in a world of easy tears,
her bread crumb trail soon fell silent
painted over by the stormy colors of an aging sky
Her inner compass spins
and the once steady confidence begins to falter and run dry
Still, she trudges on
One image pushes her through time
The memory of a man
who once was stable, his head held high
Now lost beneath this same aging sky
Each time he walks for light
his circle ends, exactly where it began
Near to becoming another statue, in this land of forgotten lives
For this man, she pushes on…
over desert sands,
where the winds of wrath, push innocents back..
with a strength, eager for revenge…
Onward-
through a maze of tangled webs,
and a forrest that collects hello’s
never issuing a goodbye
Those who enter,
beware…
most often, the mind loses track of time
Tattered and torn
Her heart beats fast,
but both legs move slow
every step, pulled to the ground
by a force hiding far below
Clear
Amidst the chaos that blinds,
Sits her man, depleted from his lack of home
Their eyes meet,
with an equal recognition
Each face, tells the other what they already know
the man can’t move..
his legs now permanent
in this place they call defeat
One last hope,
he calls out, though the voice is both weary and weak
Run! before you become a prisoner
in this land without a sun
Turn… and run…..
She watches as the man’s eyes close
forever a statue in a land built by friend and foe
Her head turns in shame
If only she hadn’t waited so long…
to take a journey and ease a mans pain…

Matt – this is super. The sepia fits so well. The shadows in the sand adds such depth and the breeze playing with the dress….very nice friend.
