My name is Molly O’Bryon-Welpott. I have been a photographer since 1991. But even though I have used a camera for 17 years I feel as though my medium has changed many times over that period. I went to school for photojournalism and I still enjoy documentary style photography. I photographed weddings in a documentary style up until 2000. In 2000 I did an “intensive” with Master Photographer Jack Welpott and learned the art of the zone system and began working more in the wet dark room specializing only in black and white prints. Last year I purchased my first digital camera and again I feel like I am starting and entirely new medium, not only is the equipment different, but I am using color and shooting the color with a purpose. I enjoy using the digital dark room to enhance and sometime to create an entirely different image than the one that was seen through the lens.
I am a mother of two children and I volunteer as the area coordinator and photographer for Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep, a non-profit organization for infant remembrance photography. My personal project right now that I am working on features preschooler’s as my models.
