Who would benefit from such a “con”?

  • hi Michael, im seeing co2 as one big gravy train bandwagon for environmental groups, media, politics, science etc – how about the billions now brought in from carbon taxes. The powers that be have us whipped into a frenzy with cherry-picked statistics and video montages of polar bears and smoking chimneys, Al Gore has made a pretty penny in this wise, it may just be the case that this planet needs MORE co2 in the atmosphere, also there is the further level of control over us the people – take 5 mins and google “carbon footprint scam” or suchlike and check some of the interesting statistics.. cheers M

We could get into a whole thing but everyone knows that there will short term cost to change to a low carbon economy and long term gain. That kind of change is very discouraging for short sighted business and short sighted business would be kind of people (in fiction) that would cook up the kind of improbable conspiracy your inferring.

Small piece of advice: the internet is full of idiots and crazies. The only science worth considering is that produced by credible universities, governments and regulated, peer reviewed institutions.

Gravy train for environmental groups? You mean the ones comprised of volunteers and seat-out-of-their-pants hippies? Not likely.

Science? The money for science is in research that supports claims that we can keep on destroying our environment and therefore future. Yet scientists keep coming back with the same conclusion that the earth is warming due to human activity. Not popular with the people who are signing the cheques.

Politics? Politicians are partially captivated by polluting campaign donators and risk their careers by taking action against climate change. Not a bright career move to go up against these powerful polluters considering the short terms politicians reside in.

What carbon tax? Which country? Certainly not in Australia. Here’s hoping we see a carbon tax for Australia so we can get on with job of protecting our environment and economic future. You seem to be under the very juvenile impression that tax money is not your money. What goes around comes around and the carbon tax has the potential power to fix the problems we are facing today.

Thanks for taking the time for me to say my piece.

  • fire away and cheers for the advice, i shall take it all on board along with the other crazies on the internet, i do admire your trust in governments, universities and science and all that but couldnt disagree more about their integrity. i read your wide-eyed enthusiasm for the powers that be and think you really should be producing propoganda for them with this patter, its perfect, and as i say admirable in its pure trust, i dont want to be poking at that. The best of luck with the planet saving measures, i do hope it works out.
Personally i just look around and see us running about with colour coded bins, worrying about farting cows and getting fined for leaving the car running and think ‘this is mental’ – someone transported here from 50 years ago would be astounded at the freedom we have lost, and oh how advanced we think we are becoming, but hey thats my wee piece been said, cheers man.
