Evolution

My distorted being has failed to adapt
A conglomerate of incompatible characteristics stagnate
Unsure of where and whether they belong on this canvas
So Laden with unease and loss amidst abstract design
that the craftiest of artist’s interpretation would fail to give justice

I therefore perch on a precipice of evolution
well aware of the plight of becoming an anonymous creature
amidst a sprawl of facades with conviction in their stride
transform or die vanished voices on the wind echo
as surroundings show their frustration in my
lack of collateral to offer to their functioning system

I once carried assumption that inherent forces made choices
On my behalf and that when time beckoned for me to pay heed
I would willingly abide and in return be offered a transition
Through all worlds I chose to amble and handed keys to unlock
all problems I encountered

But now my stubborn and ambiguous gene is all that remains
perhaps as defense I hope in an unnatural web
where my lack of selection has hidden purpose
Lurking and waiting in dormancy for a future and window
in which it can thrive
