We love our Turk’s Cap Lilies, coddle them, watch for borers, spray with Liquid Fence (works wonderfully!), and we love our butterflies:>) These gorgeous wildflowers attract swallowtails especially, and they crawl up inside the flowers getting their bodies and wings covered in pollen.

Turk’s Cap Lily – Lilium superbum

Tiger Swallowtail Butterfly – Papilio glaucus

This picture was taken in Green Lane, Pennsylvania, USA, on July 18, 2011.

I love nature, science, poetry, prose, art, music – you name it! Now that I’m retired, time is mine to spend as I wish (pretty much), and I wish to take pictures of our natural world.

Bringing the outdoors in for others to see, especially those who may not get the opportunity to wander next to a pond, fish at the beach, or tramp in the woods, is a pleasure. I hope to build a window to the wonders of nature that fill our everyday lives.

How beautiful is this, I can never capture a butterfly.. besides only white cabbage moths in my garden at present.. if I catch them it won’’t be on film….

  • LOL – We have cabbage butterflies, too, and they will eat like crazy when they are larvae! Thank you fo the fun comment!

I have only seen a patch of these down the road and you can’t really get to them. When I shoot them, I have to zoom in on them from the road. I would love to have some in my yard.
