This is an introduced species, and although we have it in our area it is not a problem. Some places consider it a noxious weed, The seeds are eaten by the European Goldfinch, and the dried (but very prickly) seed heads are decorative and even used by florists at times. We used to make little mice decorations from them by adding pussy willow eyes and noses on the end.

This picture was taken in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, USA, at Nockamixon State Park on August 6, 2012.

I love nature, science, poetry, prose, art, music – you name it! Now that I’m retired, time is mine to spend as I wish (pretty much), and I wish to take pictures of our natural world.

Bringing the outdoors in for others to see, especially those who may not get the opportunity to wander next to a pond, fish at the beach, or tramp in the woods, is a pleasure. I hope to build a window to the wonders of nature that fill our everyday lives.

This is a beautiful collage, I hope you put it in the two collage groups :-0)

  • I do so few collages that I’ve stayed away from the groups. I’d be a bad member, I’m afraid. BUT – I THANK YOU SO MUCH for the wonderful comment and fave:>)
