Fishing the Jetty - Island Beach State Park NJ by

Although I spend my fishing time on the beach and wander out onto the jetty only to take pictures, the less faint of heart put on grippers (cleats) load up their tackle in buckets and shoulder bags, and challenge the seaweed-covered, slick rocks. For those intrepid souls, the payoff can be some beautiful fish and exciting battles.

A texture from Shadowhouse Creations is used to enhance the photo.

I’ll be posting the un-enhanced photo.

This photograph was taken June 30, 2011.

I love nature, science, poetry, prose, art, music – you name it! Now that I’m retired, time is mine to spend as I wish (pretty much), and I wish to take pictures of our natural world.

Bringing the outdoors in for others to see, especially those who may not get the opportunity to wander next to a pond, fish at the beach, or tramp in the woods, is a pleasure. I hope to build a window to the wonders of nature that fill our everyday lives.

A great image and story!!! Love the textures and vintage feeling!!! Both photos are great, but I think this one is my fave! :)

  • Thanks, Angie. Fishing this jetty is a sport for the younger folks (mostly) as it requires some leaping and great balance to conquer the breaches in the rocks and manage the ice-slick seaweed and algae.

Beautiful capture and work, Carol. Great description, too!!

  • Your visits are always appreciated, Tori, as is the comment and the fave! Those on the jetty must be watchful of where the tide is so they aren’t caught unaware and unable to return to the beach. The waves crash through the holes in the jetty and the tide covers much of it when high.

A lovely work MN, has a bit of a Norman Rockwell feel for me, well done!

  • Thank you for the nice comment, Randy:>). We were just down to that very same beach yesterday for some fishing.
