Teach's Lair Marina - Hatteras Village - Outer Banks by

Edward Teach (also spelled Thatch) was perhaps better know as Blackbeard the Pirate. He was a scourge of the Caribbean. Blackbeard’s career ended at Ocracoke Inlet where he was waylaid by an armed contingent led by Lieutenant Robert Maynard of Virginia. Blackbeard and a number of his pirate crew were killed in a terrible battle with Maynard, and Maynard returned to Virginia with the surviving pirates and Blackbeard’s severed head.

This marina on Hatteras Island, in Hatteras Village, was named for Edward Teach.

A texture from Textureking was used as an overlay to make the photo look like heavy drawing paper.

I love nature, science, poetry, prose, art, music – you name it! Now that I’m retired, time is mine to spend as I wish (pretty much), and I wish to take pictures of our natural world.

Bringing the outdoors in for others to see, especially those who may not get the opportunity to wander next to a pond, fish at the beach, or tramp in the woods, is a pleasure. I hope to build a window to the wonders of nature that fill our everyday lives.
