Artist's Description

Partridge Berry is a native, low-growing, perennial vine that thrives on the forest floor. It loves rich soil and shade, and blooms spring to summer depending on it’s location. The evergreen leaves are small and tough, and after the flowers are gone, the vine sports bright red berries that birds eat and then disperse the seeds. The range for this small but lovely wildflower is throughout the eastern half of North America, and it is common – not endangered.

This picture was taken November 15, 2011, in Green Lane, Pennsylvania.
