Old Shed Mail Pouch Tobacco by

This old barn is on a back road in Berks County, PA. Someone gave it a new roof, but the old sides with the painted advertising remain, as do the old vehicles.

I love nature, science, poetry, prose, art, music – you name it! Now that I’m retired, time is mine to spend as I wish (pretty much), and I wish to take pictures of our natural world.

Bringing the outdoors in for others to see, especially those who may not get the opportunity to wander next to a pond, fish at the beach, or tramp in the woods, is a pleasure. I hope to build a window to the wonders of nature that fill our everyday lives.

A new roof sounds promising :-) Nice shot! Love how the shed and the cars are positioned in a ‘Z’ formation. Congratulations with “Old Shed Mail Pouch Tobacco” and the features !!!

  • Thank you, Baina:>). I didn’t like the roof – wished for old boards and such – but couldn’t resist the rest of the barn.

I know what you mean about the look of the new roof… At least it is protecting the rest of the barn. Perhaps someone needs to add some… decorations to it to match the rest! Do you know if they intend to do something with it, like continue to restore it? Hopefully, it they do so, they will not modernise it too much :-(

I hope you’re right. History is wrapped up in these old buildings and bridges as is the “flavor” of our landscape. In our area, the old stone arch bridges (large and small) are slowly being lost along with bank barns and such. There seems to be a new awareness of how wonderful these structures are – hope that grows! In this case, a new roof must mean the building is being used and thus mostly preserved.
