The Spring Beauty wildflower is common and one of the earlier to bloom. In southern areas they can be seen in March while farther north May could be the best time. We here in Pennsylvania have them in April – lovely carpets of delicate flowers that pop up in lawns, waste areas, literally anywhere the sun can hit and the flowers can take a foothold.
People have been said to eat the tubers. I prefer not to dig and disturb wildflowers unless there is a very good reason – development, for instance.
