Canada Geese on Frozen Sloans Lake by

Another post where I am bouncing around in seasons

Sloans Lake a lake and park in Denver, Colorado, USA on New Years morning 2011 when the temperatures was -8 Fahrenheit (-22 C), the geese were huddled together on the only spot on the lake that was not frozen over.

I come down here quite alot since it is only 3 miles from my house (though not nearly enough) especially when the weather is nasty, much easier driving 3 miles on icy roads than 70 miles up to the mountains with the massive hills.

I have issues with my hands being highly sensitive to temperature extremes especially the cold, a result of both my diabetes and 2 cases of minor frost bite on them, and being out in this cold definitely was very difficult since I couldn’t cover my hands too much in order to manipulate the camera controls for different DOF, exposures and compositions, but it was such a spectacular morning that I was more than willing to suffer through the agony in my hands

Nature Photographer of Colorado. Started photographing Colorado as a means of documenting my climbs of the State’s many mountain peaks
